she liked Imaginary Men best of all

Hello world!

I have been thinking about blogging for a long time. And talking about it for a shorter time. And now here it is.

Mostly I’ll muse on various things (usually about pop culture) rant about things that are pissing me off  (probably the GOP), discuss the things I love (ad nauseum), obsess over my current celebrity crushes (likely to be updated frequently), and possibly post some of the writing I’ve been doing for the past year (we’ll see how it goes).

As for the name of the blog I introduce you to a magnet I got in Harvard Square a few years ago: “she liked imaginary men best of all” is a drawing of a 50’s era woman in full hair and jewelry smiling contentedly over an empty easy chair.

I have found over the years through single-hood, marriage, and post-marriage that this is indeed the motto of my life.

Imaginary Men

Doesn’t she look pleased with that big empty chair in which she can sit and control the remote and do whatever the hell she wants? Like call her girlfriends up while eating a big bag of m&m’s and gush about their favorite TV Boyfriend who – in this lady’s case – would probably be Dick Van Dyke – but you get the idea.
